Tutorial: All About Mud

Described for this article as that big mess of mid range frequencies that cloud up your mix. Mud is what makes your mix dull, flat and lifeless.
Maybe your hats aren't standing out or your snare keeps getting buried or your rhythm instruments can't find their way into the mix. Maybe you just want to stand out from the other cats that don't take the time to clean up their tracks. Or, for whatever reason, things just don't sound balanced.
Guess what, it happens to everyone. A good producer always wants to take the next step in learning how to get better.
So, hopefully the good people here at ISK can help get you there. These tips may be a bit basic, so I apologize if you're past this, but they're also fundamental, so a refresher never hurt. Click Read More for the rest of the post.
What Software Do You Use?

I'm interested in which software you people use. It will help me when I start up the tutorials etc.
I run a Mac with Bootcamp so have full access to Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Reason 4 and FL Studio 9.
Please leave a comment as to which ones you use most or would prefer to see tutorials written on.
Software: Berna (Weird Nuclear Sounds)

I found this the other day, and bought it seeing as it was so cheap. I've created some weird abstract experimental stuff with it and love it. Check it out at Gleetchplug, they also have some other ambient software there. Click read more to watch the video.
Video: Digging In The Crates

Digging in the Crates aims to describe the sampling culture in all its aspects, characteristics, and influences. Not only the understanding of the creative process as a craft but also the effort and creative processes associated with sampling should be communicated authentically.
This is absolutely amazing. Click read more to see the video.
